Por su radical cambio de imagen y su Increíble trama, "God Of WAR" se ha convertido en el mejor título del año 2018 en los The Game Awards, considerado los «Oscars de los videojuegos». Desarrollado por el la empresa Santa Monica Studio y exclusivo para la consola de sobremesa PayStation 4 se ha alzo con el máximo galardón de este evento, y lo ha hecho, además, en un año en el que han aparecido otros superventas como "Red Dead Redemption 2", la precuela del juego ambientado en el Salvaje Oeste. La consagración acontecimientos mitológicos da alas de esta saga inspirada en, de esta manera, a una futura continuación. Además, su final abierto dejaba al aire la posibilidad de volver a crear un título de Kratos, el personaje principal de God of War.

No lo tenía fácil alzarse con el premio dado que competía en una categoría muy apretada en la que quedaron nominados propuestas interesantes como « Assassins Creed Odyssey», el título de Ubisoft ambientado este año en Grecia; « Marvel's Spider-Man» (Insomniac Games, la consolidación del trepamuros en los vidojuegos; la refinada cacería de « Monster Hunter: World» (Capcom); «Celeste» (Matt Makes Games), una aventura de corte independiente»; o « Red Dead Redemption 2», de Rockstar Games, creadores de la exitosa saga Grand Theft Auto.
